WebsiteProfilePic_edited.jpg

From an early age, Dr. Jonathan Castro knew he was meant to work with animals. He began volunteering with the Humane Society and later worked for his family’s long-time veterinarian, which confirmed his calling to pursue veterinary medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Gettysburg College and his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Castro has served in private practice, provided low-cost vaccine and wellness clinics in rural communities, and assisted authorities in cases of animal neglect and abuse — helping animals receive urgent medical care and safe placement.

He began offering house-call veterinary services early in his career and, after seven years in a traditional hospital setting, transitioned fully to mobile practice. Today, he focuses on compassionate in-home end-of-life care for pets throughout Cary and surrounding areas, allowing families to say goodbye in the comfort and familiarity of home.

Dr. Castro lives in Cary, NC with his family. Outside of work he enjoys travel, concerts, hiking, swimming, biking, and playing the drums. He remains committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of pets and pet parents through gentle, respectful, in-home care.
